It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Charles Velliquette, who left this world on August 24, 2025, in Longview, Washington. Born on December 27, 1978, in the beautiful city of Honolulu, Hawaii, Patrick's life was filled with vibrant energy, dedication, and a deep commitment to education and music.
Patrick embarked on an illustrious career in education, shaping the minds of young people at several institutions. His journey began at Riverdale Baptist School in Marlboro, Maryland, where he taught from 2005 to 2014. He later shared his passion for learning at Turlock Christian in Crescent City, California (2020-2022), and the Riddle School District in Brookings, Oregon (2022-2024). Most recently, he served at Rainier High School in Rainier, Oregon, where he was preparing to welcome a new academic year as the school year 2024-2025 approached. His impact on students and colleagues was immeasurable, as he infused warmth and enthusiasm into every classroom he entered.
Patrick's dedication to music was matched only by his commitment to enriching the lives of others. A proud alumnus of the University of Oregon, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Performance and a Master of Business in Music Education in 2005. Earlier, he earned his Associate of Arts degree from LCC in 2000, laying a strong foundation for his continued studies. His musical talents shone bright as he participated in the University of Oregon Marching Band, where he had the honor of performing at the Rose Bowl, and as a soloist in the Southwest Washington Youth Symphony during his senior year.
Throughout his life, Patrick found fulfillment in giving back to the community. His involvement in Clatskanie Baptist Church from the age of two until twenty-one forged a strong spiritual foundation, which he returned to in 2024. He was also deeply involved in Columbia County 4H, where he cultivated a love for poultry and dairy goats, as well as woodworking. His leadership skills were celebrated through his participation in the Oregon 4H judging team, showcasing his ability to guide and inspire younger generations.
Patrick's family and friends were the pillars of his existence. He is survived by his loving parents, Aloysius "Wish" and Marianne (Ribble) Velliquette; his sister, Keraline Rose, and her husband, Matt; his beloved grandmother, Doris Ribble; his cherished aunt, Nancy Johnston; and dear cousins, Corey Thompson and Matice Felty. Patrick also took great pride in being an uncle to his niece and nephews, Levi, Emma, Brandon, and Faith Rose, nurturing them with love and guidance.
Memories of Patrick's laughter, kindness, and unwavering support will forever linger in the hearts of those he touched. As we remember his incredible journey, we invite you to join us in celebrating his life at a memorial service on September 6, 2025, at Rainier Jr/Sr High School, located at 28170 Old Rainier Road, Rainier, Oregon, starting at 11:00 AM.
Though he is no longer with us, Patrick Charles Velliquette leaves behind a legacy of love, passion, and inspiration that will continue to resonate in the lives of many. He will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered.
